The Master of Arts in Teaching with a major in Teaching offers three concentrations-Elementary Education, English as a Second Language, and Secondary Education.

Admission Requirements
Admission to the Master of Arts in Teaching requires: - an earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college;
- at least a 2.75 undergraduate GPA or 3.0 GPA in the most recent 60 credit hours for full admission or a 2.50 undergraduate GPA for conditional admission;
- a satisfactory score on the Praxis content area may be required if job-embedded.
All admitted candidates will be required to successfully complete the process for Admission to Teacher Education within the first semester. For more information, see education.mtsu.edu/admission/. Application Procedures
Applicants must submit the following application materials to the College of Graduate Studies: Applicant must - submit an application with the appropriate application fee (online at www.mtsu.edu/graduate/apply.php).Once this initial application has been accepted, the applicant will receive directions on how to enter the graduate portal to be able to submit other materials.
- submit official transcripts of all previous college work;
- submit evidence of at least one of the required admission items above.
Degree Requirements
The Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Secondary Education requires completion of 30-39 credit hours and successful completion of a clinical experience or an advisor approved alternative. Teacher licensure requires completion of all current Tennessee teacher licensure requirements for the licensure area. Curriculum: Teaching, Secondary Education

Students enrolling in 6000-level courses must hold a bachelor’s degree, and students enrolling in 7000-level courses must hold a master’s degree. |
